Manager Compliance Officer
The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for ensuring that the Bank complies with all laws under which it operates and rules issued by the Malta Financial Services Authority, the Central Bank of Malta, the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit and other regulatory bodies. This role is subject to Regulatory approval.
Duties
• Act as the Compliance Officer in relation to Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance;
• Serve as a point of reference to manage and maintain good relationships with relevant regulatory bodies;
• Provide advisory services in order to ensure clear understanding of compliance risk exposure with respect to customers, transactions and products;
• Identify and implement best practices to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements;
• Assist senior management, and others on all material compliance related matters;
• Assume responsibility for the development and effective implementation of policies, procedures, systems and controls related to the Compliance function;
• Manage the compliance and regulatory risks through oversight of respective departments and ensuring that all staff are kept aware of their regulatory obligations within their area of responsibility;
• Perform periodic compliance risk assessments and establishing a compliance monitoring programme;
• Keep abreast of regulatory developments so as to ensure compliance at all times;
• Prepare compliance reports for the Audit & Risk Committee and external regulatory bodies as required.
Requirements
• Hold a first degree or other professional qualification or equivalent in Banking, Law, or Compliance;
• Able to interact effectively with Regulators;
• Possess a good understanding of the current legal regulatory framework impacting the Bank;
• Able to interact actively and effectively with the Bank’s senior management;
• Have excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Hold a command of both Maltese and English.
